Syracuse 42, Miami 38: Orange Storm Back In Second Half For Win

Syracuse Orange football needs to win games to bring back the fans

Syracuse's football team rallied from a 21-point halftime deficit to defeat Miami 42-38 on Friday night in the Carrier Dome. The win improves Syracuse's record to 5-0, while Miami falls to 2-3.

Miami dominated the first half, taking a 21-0 lead. The Hurricanes scored on a 5-yard run by Jaylon Knighton, a 12-yard pass from Tyler Van Dyke to Will Mallory, and a 25-yard field goal by Andy Borregales.

Syracuse's offense struggled in the first half, gaining just 67 yards. The Orange also turned the ball over twice, including a fumble by quarterback Garrett Shrader.

Syracuse came out firing in the second half. The Orange scored on a 1-yard run by Sean Tucker, a 24-yard pass from Shrader to Oronde Gadsden II, and a 27-yard field goal by Andre Szmyt.

Miami answered back with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Van Dyke to Mallory, but Syracuse continued to chip away. The Orange scored on a 6-yard run by Tucker, a 1-yard run by Shrader, and a 2-point conversion by Shrader to take the lead.

Miami had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but Borregales' 48-yard field goal attempt was wide right.

Syracuse quarterback Garrett Shrader had a huge second half, completing 12 of 17 passes for 229 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown.

Syracuse had a 19-point swing in the second half, outscoring Miami 26-7.

Syracuse will host Florida State next Saturday at the Carrier Dome. Miami will host North Carolina next Saturday in Miami Gardens.
